Each acrylic painting in this series is a call-to-action that exposes our passive and destructive attitudes, with titles and intended arrangements urging the viewer to move and pay attention, both on a psychological level and a physical one.

Collect. I’ve trauma

A series of mixed-media drawings that explore the frailties of our self-hood and how we interact with similar vulnerabilities in others. Each work is contemplative of the inherent and fertile dualities that lie within ourselves and that are found in our paradoxical relationship with the world around us. We hide behind façades and layers; wear countless masks, seeking comfort, safety and acknowledgement, all the while slowly losing touch of ourselves, others and reality. Thus, a cloud of loneliness slowly shrouds our connections; causing symptoms and sensations similar to those born from early childhood trauma. Collect. I’ve trauma focuses in part on how the prohibitions we set on our existence result an all-around experience that has long been all-too familiar to an often misunderstood and dismissed minority: individuals afflicted by personality disorders.

Pay Attention!

In a world united and divided by social media platform algorithms, how we perceive and represent ourselves and the Other is muddled by a cocktail of logos, emoticons and memes playing off as the far more complex counterparts they are meant to represent. A growing addiction to Likes and an insidiously funneled environment slowly dissociates individuals. These voluntarily induced variables keep us from expressing fully and in traditional contexts (face to face) the very emotions we are merely claiming to ‘feel’ at a distance ‘harmlessly’ behind our screens.
